ZIRX on demand parking service is the first of its kind. Tell us how it works?
ZIRX will save you time and give you peace-of-mind. You always know where to park before you go and it’s cashless, convenient & secure. For example, you can drop off your car at the entrance to your office and get it back at the restaurant after dinner.
Open ZIRX and tell us where you’re heading. We’ll meet you there and park your car.
Save time and get your gas tank filled, car washed or oil changes while it’s parked.
When you’re ready to go, tell us where you are & we’ll return your car to you.
Along with valet, what other services does ZIRX provide?
ZIRX is reinventing what it means to own a car – so we are much more than parking! Once your car is parked with us you can get it filled with gas, charged, washed, taken in for maintenance and much more. We are have a growing list of services available within the app, and, if you think something else just call us; we will likely complete it for you as a special request.
ZIRX has been growing and is now in seven cities. What advice would you give to other looking to expand their reach?
This sounds counterintuitive but it’s best to be dragged into them. Have your customers bid and sign positions for you to come to their city next. It will provide you with the best indication of demand and provide a solid base of users when you get there.
How does pricing with ZIRX differ from parking independently?
ZIRX is transparent in its pricing – you would be surprised how often people do not know how much parking there car will cost until they get it back. With ZIRX you know how much daily or monthly parking will costs before you drop off your car with us, and getting add-on services is a simple and selecting them from our menu.
How does ZIRX decide where to expand?
We look for markets that have a strong mix of commuters and local residents within a dense core are of the city.
What is your proudest day at ZIRX?
Nothing is like a company’s first day. When we turned on the service in San Francisco, honestly, we couldn’t be sure anyone would want or use a service such as ours. The response was so immediately encouraging and appreciative, we knew we had something big right off the bat. For anyone starting a company I encourage you to launch your product as quickly as you can, and get that feedback from your customers –developing with the market’s input is the key.
What is one book you would recommend to everyone?
Brad Stones’ The Everything Store about Amazon and Jeff Bezos is a must read for people building new companies. It’s a chronicling of how massive ideas start as small projects.
Who is someone we should be following on Twitter right now?
I’m a big fan of Gary Vaynerchuk. He gets the grit that is needed to make one of these crazy ideas work. He is also a fellow FoundersCard Member.
What is one app that all FoundersCard Members should be using?
Timehop is an app developed by an old friend, Jon Wegener. It pulls-in your content from SMS, your phone camera, Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter, Instagram and sends you a daily email of what you did 1 year ago today. It’s crazy addictive and lends you perspective for each day.
Give us your best plug/brag a little about as to what you’re working on now/next.
ZIRX is remodeling the underlying logistics of cities – just think of using parking time as unused phantom work hours…? Just the start – we are building the infrastructure to support the movement/storage, and use of any type of item. Look for more details on that soon!
